Feeling stuck or overwhelmed in this life chapter?
On the outside, you have it all—the job, family, house with a backyard, and mountain lifestyle. But on the inside, you’re struggling to be present, navigate change, or figure out what’s next.
Work and family demands keep shifting. Your marriage may be in a season of conflict or disconnection. Your kids are growing up fast, facing their own struggles and transitions. And your parents might need more and more of you as time goes by.
Success feels like a gift and a burden.
You wish you could feel more grounded and in control, less reactive and exhausted.
You want to show up as the partner, parent, son/daughter, and human you long to be: connected, present, able to catch your breath and enjoy the beautiful life you’ve worked hard to build.
Slow down to reconnect with yourself + your loved ones + the season you’re in.
True Nature Counseling provides individual therapy for adults in Evergreen, Conifer, and Golden, Colorado, especially those navigating the throes of midlife.

Therapy offers guidance and space to slow down, address any of the challenges above, and make changes for a better life. It can also be a place to deepen self-understanding, reflect on your relationship patterns, and clarify what matters most as you enter new life chapters.
Together, we will:
Cultivate greater awareness
We’ll uncover what’s beneath the surface of your hardship—how stressors, unresolved trauma, past experiences, relationships, and other factors may be impacting your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
You’ll begin to recognize the individual and relational patterns that may no longer align with how you want to show up. This includes limiting beliefs, irrational lines of thinking, or coping habits that might add to your distress.
The goal is not to stay stuck in the past but to reflect on it to make sense of your experience in the present.
Make concrete, relational changes
We’ll build on that awareness to challenge or shift the patterns we’ve recognized, making concrete changes in how you relate to yourself and others. This might look like:
-
Pausing before snapping at your kids when stress takes over.
-
Listening mindfully and responding with intention when your partner talks to you.
-
Practicing new ways of setting boundaries at work or with your parents.
Over time, these shifts may lead to less friction, guilt, and frustration, and a greater sense of calm and resilience.
Expand coping skills
Sometimes, stagnation and suffering stem from how you’ve learned to cope. Maybe you go, go, go until you crash, numb yourself with several glasses of wine, or binge on TV shows until late at night.
We’ll check your current coping strategies and develop healthier, more sustainable ones that help you move from survival to a more grounded, mindful way of living. Drawing from somatic psychology, mindfulness, and neuroscience, you’ll learn to:
-
Regulate your nervous system and alleviate symptoms
-
Release habits that might have helped before but are not serving you now
-
Find small yet mighty ways to slow down, rest, and deal with stress
Benefits of individual therapy
Cultivate greater awareness
Therapy allows you to uncover what’s underneath the surface of your hardship and what factors might contribute to it. You’ll begin to understand how stressors, past experiences, memories, and other elements of your unconscious can impact current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
This valuable insight will also shed light on unhelpful patterns that may no longer adhere to how you want to show up for yourself or others. This includes limiting beliefs, irrational lines of thinking, or damaging habits that might add to your distress.
Make concrete changes
As you reflect on your self-discovery, we’ll challenge and shift the harmful patterns we have recognized in your thoughts, feelings, and actions. The goal is to build upon awareness to make concrete behavior changes that will improve your relationship with yourself and the people around you.
For example, we might notice a perfectionist or overly self-critical tendency at work that affects your self-esteem, relationships with family and colleagues, and capacity to grow in your career. We can reframe your negative self-talk and practice compassion to help you foster a greater sense of self-worth and make decisions with more confidence and grace.
Expand coping skills
Therapy is not only an excellent doorway to access your inner knowing and make positive changes. It also empowers you with the resources to surf life’s waves.
Sometimes, stagnation and suffering may be rooted in how you cope. We’ll work to develop healthy and practical coping strategies that feel safe and aligned with yourself. You’ll be able to alleviate symptoms, increase resilience, and let go of what’s not serving you.
Individual therapy at True Nature Counseling
We’ll start with a free 15-minute consultation to discuss what brings you to therapy, what you are hoping for, and any questions you might have. I’ll also walk you through my approach, process, and logistics.
If we agree to work together, we’ll schedule regular 50-minute sessions.
We’ll meet in person (or online, as necessary) in a private, confidential space. The frequency and number of sessions may vary based on your situation, treatment, and what you hope to achieve. Some people come in at a critical moment or during a crisis, while others stay long-term as they continue to navigate different chapters of their lives.
I offer hybrid options (a mix of in-person and virtual therapy) for convenience and flexibility. Yet, my relational therapeutic style is most effective when working in person, as it might be easier for us to go deeper in less time.
Marie Cobb, MS, MA, LPC | Adult therapist in Evergreen, Conifer, and Golden, Colorado
I’m Marie, the licensed professional counselor behind True Nature Counseling. I provide individual and couples therapy to adults living in Evergreen, Conifer, and Golden, Colorado. I love working with motivated individuals and couples from all backgrounds—especially those navigating midlife burnout, relationship changes, parenting and caregiving challenges, and times of uncertainty.
My approach is humanistic, relational, and experiential, meaning I focus on your whole, unique self, and how you relate to yourself and others, while fostering experiences to help you work through difficulties. I draw from mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy (MCBT), emotionally focused therapy (EFT), attachment theory, wilderness therapy, somatic psychology, and neuroscience to tailor a path for your distinct self.
If you’re experiencing treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, or an overwhelmed nervous system, I may offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) integration as an option. While I don’t provide the medicine here in my office, I can support you in integrating the ketamine work done in clinical settings or retreats to translate any insights into lasting change.
Whether you’re coming in for individual therapy or alongside couples counseling, our sessions will always consider your most important relationships and how they’ve shaped you. I’m here to listen without judgment, guide you as you walk through adversity, and empower you to live a life that feels more connected and held with purpose.
